Script Consultant

There’s nothing I love more than helping people shape their material and passing on some of my hard-won experience working with directors, producers and movie stars across the independent sector, Hollywood and for NETFLIX. I’m a Visiting Lecturer at the LONDON FILM SCHOOL and have run sold out screenwriting courses at the ROYAL CENTRAL SCHOOL OF SPEECH & DRAMA and the RIVERSIDE STUDIOS in West London, where I continue to run workshops.

My next series of workshops at the Riverside Studios begins on August 25 at 7pm and you can book via this link: Riverscribes: Introduction To Screenwriting

I’m available for PRIVATE MENTORING & SCRIPT EDITOR work and would love to help you develop your material. It could be a short, feature film or an idea for television, at any stage of development – a one line pitch or a finished draft. I charge an hourly rate and usually begin by reading the material followed by a one to one meeting, on Zoom or in person. In my experience this is by far the best way of generating ideas and figuring out the story you really want to tell. Please contact me via the contacts page and I’d be delighted to see how I can help.

I also give one day SCREENWRITING MASTERCLASSES for film and television with TV drama exec Ben Stoll. If you’d like to be notified of the next one please contact me via the contacts page and I’ll let you know as soon as we have a confirmed date.

Keynote speaker at the London Screenwriters’ Festival, April 2025.

TESTIMONIALS

“Henry workshopped my short film from rough draft to shooting script. While respecting the intrinsic elements of the story, Henry helped me restructure the story and write dialogue that greatly sharpened the character arcs and conflict in the story. During shooting and editing, I was so grateful for Henry’s contribution. The whole team believed in the script and we could focus our energies on letting it shine rather than re-writing mid-shoot. Thank you Henry!”

Hugo Berkeley, February 2025

“I took the “Screenwriting: an introduction” course expecting to learn a little bit about the craft, but thanks to Henry, ended up getting much, much more. He provided not only great delivery of the curriculum, but also went above and beyond and helped every participant individually, providing high quality feedback and advice with regard to our screenplays. Henry’s knowledge, energy and enthusiasm are second only to his ability to provide clear and simple examples for the subject he’s teaching or consulting on. Most importantly, Henry made us all believe in ourselves and our work, and that’s priceless.”

David Konrad, author (
Short Courses, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, March 2024)

“The combination of Henry’s film expertise and Ben’s extensive TV experience made this a really unique screenwriting course. In the space of one day, I felt much better equipped to develop and pitch my concept. The workshop was packed with invaluable tips and insights they’ve gained from years working in the industry. It was also a rare opportunity to ask questions of two industry experts. If you’re starting screenwriting for the first time, or further along and needing direction with a project, I would highly recommend it. Henry and Ben covered the essential skills of screenwriting as well as practical advice about entering the industry and developing a concept, and it was great fun!”

Alice Mcllroy, bestselling author of The Glass Woman (Masterclass, June 2025)

“Henry’s masterclass was brilliant – an enthusiastic and all encompassing introduction to writing screenplays. From getting started with an idea to getting a completed script made, the class covered everything and was filled with illuminating stories from Henry’s own experiences as a script writer. I couldn’t recommend it more!’
Noah Roper (Masterclass, June 2025)

“A human screenwriting dynamo, the delegates loved him”
Lucy Van Smit (London Screenwriters’ Festival)

“Great course and super interesting. Henry is so talented and such fun! All in all, a real treat!”

Elisa Kerr (Riverside Studios Screenwriting Workshop, June 2024)

“I honestly couldn’t have done it without Henry. I learnt so much from him”

Olivia Sweeney
London Film School, Screenwriting MA

“Henry knows how films work thematically, commercially and most importantly emotionally. Henry’s your guy, he’s a great mentor. Thank you very much, Henry!”

Masashi Kawamata
London Film School, Screenwriting MA

“I attended Henry’s screenwriting course in Autumn 2024 and came away inspired, armed with the tools to start creating my screenplay and confident that I could soon get my project started. Henry illustrated the challenges of forming characters and plotting a story arc with real examples from popular movies which cut through my fears that screenwriting was a code that I’d never be able to decipher. Encouraging the class to discover the essence or ‘DNA’ of a story, Henry also generously provided the class with several screenplays to read and sent over his lectures from each of the four classes, so we weren’t overburdened with having to make notes during the sessions.”

Nicole Carmichael
Riverside Studios Screenwriting Workshop, November 2024

“As a relatively new filmmaker and writer the moment I send off a script for thoughts I feel excitement followed by instant gut wrenching fear. Henry is a person who always brings out the positive and consistently points out where he feels I can develop further. He’s kind and that can really make or break an artist. I’m still scared but feel safe when Henry has a script of mine.”

Lewis Reeves (ITV’s Unforgotten, I May Destroy You)
Actor, writer, director

“Henry’s enthusiasm for teaching and for stories is infectious. Not only does he help you distill the core of the story in your script but he does it with a kind spirit.”

Christoffer Flemstrom
Filmmaking Diploma, London Film Academy

“I met Henry at the Inward Eye Film Festival. He joined the round table discussions on our projects, providing surgical insight and clarity. In our 1-to-1 session Henry gave further useful feedback as well as candid but encouraging career advice.”

Merlin Goldman
Screenwriter

“Henry’s lively enthusiastic delivery and obvious love of the craft is infectious. His own anecdotes of success and failure were refreshingly honest and down to earth, meaning absolute amateurs like myself weren’t intimidated to give it a go, while the seasoned scriptwriters amongst us were empowered to keep moving forward.”

Nicole Carmichael
Riverside Studios Screenwriting Workshop, November 2024

“Henry did such a fabulous job at our Writers Workshop and Film Festival. He is not only extremely professional and highly skilled but also enormously fun and enthusiastic about film and life. We hope he will be able to work with us every year and would recommend him without hesitation.”
